Quick answer: For Diwali lucky draw coupons, choose the number range you need in the generator above (the Lucky draw preset already says Diwali Mela and Coupon No.), change the venue, draw time and coupon price, pick the orange accent colour and click Download PDF. Print on A4 at 100% scale, cut along the crop marks and drop the stubs into a closed box for the draw.
A Diwali draw is as much a part of the evening as the sweets. Whether it runs at a stall in a mela, in the clubhouse of a housing society or at the office party, the needs are the same: coupons that cannot be confused with each other, stubs that stay safe until the draw, and a draw that everyone can see is fair.
Three Diwali draws and what each one needs
| Occasion | How many coupons | How they are given out | Stub |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diwali mela or stall | Expected visitors plus spares, for example 1 to 500 | Sold at a counter at a small price | Name and phone |
| Housing society get-together | One per flat, or one per family member | Handed out free, or for a small contribution to the festival fund | Name and flat number |
| Office Diwali party | One per employee plus spares | Handed out at the entrance | Name only; untick Phone |
Settings that suit Diwali
- Colour. Under Design, colour and logo, pick the orange swatch. The Bold design gives a solid orange stub that is easy to spot in the box.
- Logo. Add your society, school or company logo in the same section; it prints on every coupon.
- Greeting. Use Prize or main line for a short greeting in English letters, such as “Shubh Deepavali from Green Park Society”.
- Flat number. In the stub options, type “Flat no.” in Extra line so the stub has a line for it next to Name and Phone.
- Prefix per tower. Type A- in Prefix and print one PDF for each tower or block (A-, B-, C-), so every coupon shows where it belongs.
Choosing the prizes
Prizes that suit Diwali are easy to find locally: boxes of sweets or dry fruits, diyas and decorations, kitchenware, small appliances and gift hampers. Shopkeepers in the neighbourhood are often happy to donate one prize if you thank them from the stage. Put the prizes on a table or board before the draw, so people can see what is at stake. A society of about 150 households might plan 1 bumper prize, 2 second prizes and 5 consolation prizes, with the small ones drawn first.
A simple plan, counted back from your event day
The date of Diwali changes every year, so plan back from your own event day, not from the festival.
- Two to three weeks before: fix the prizes, the coupon price (or make coupons free for residents) and the draw time.
- About ten days before: finish the design, print the Test sheet on plain A4, then print the full run at a local print shop or at home.
- A week before: cut the sheets, tear-test a stub, and put the coupons with the volunteers or at the registration table.
- On the day: write the name on the stub, tear it off and drop it in the closed box as each coupon is handed over. Count the stubs when the issue closes.
- At the draw: announce the rules again and draw at the time printed on the coupon.
Run the Diwali draw on the day
Put the box where everyone can see it and keep it closed. Ask a respected resident or the chief guest, and not someone from the organising committee, to draw each stub. Read the number twice and ask the holder to show the coupon with the matching number before you hand over the prize. Decide in advance what happens when a winner has already left: the usual rule is that the winner must be present, with a short wait before the next stub is drawn, and the small print on the Lucky draw preset already says the winner must show the matching number.
To draw by number rather than from the box, use the free raffle winner picker. Enter your range, leave out unissued numbers and draw one winner per prize, from the smallest prize to the bumper prize. Write each result down on the prize list.
Print for the language your guests read. The PDF can only print English letters, so type greetings in English or in Hindi words spelled in English letters, and keep the amount as ₹ in the form; it prints as Rs. because standard PDF fonts have no rupee symbol.
Check local rules before you start. Rules on lucky draws and lotteries differ between Indian states. These coupons are meant for community occasions such as society functions, school fetes and office parties. If you plan to sell coupons to the public, or the prizes are large, check local rules first. This page is general information, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
What should a Diwali lucky draw coupon say?
The coupon number, the event name, the draw time and place, the price if there is one, and a line of small print such as “Keep this coupon safe. The winner must show the matching number.” The Lucky draw preset already has all of these, and you can change any line.
How many coupons do I need for a housing society?
One per flat is the simplest, plus a few spares. A society of 180 flats could print 1 to 200. If every family member gets a coupon, count people instead of flats, and give each tower its own prefix such as A- or B-.
Can I use the same coupons for an office Diwali party?
Yes. Print one per employee plus spares, untick Phone on the stub and give each team a prefix if you like. You can also draw winners by number with the free raffle winner picker.
Can I print the coupons at a local shop on A4?
Yes. The PDF is A4 and prints at actual size, so any print shop can use it. Ask for A4, single-sided and 100% scale with no fit to page, and ask the shop to cut along the crop marks.
Is a lucky draw legal?
Rules on lucky draws and lotteries differ between Indian states. For a draw where coupons are sold to the public or the prizes are large, check local rules before you start. This site does not give legal advice.
Can I write Diwali wishes in Hindi on the coupon?
Not in Devanagari: the PDF can only print English letters. Write wishes in English or in Hindi words spelled with English letters, such as Shubh Deepavali.
Can I draw the winner by number instead of from the box?
Yes. Enter the range you printed in the raffle winner picker, leave out the numbers you did not issue and draw one winner per prize. Then check the coupon the winner holds against the stub.
